Updates

May 29th, 2025

Nerfed the Chilling effect.

  • Slowness effect strength is now always 1, regardless of armour stacks.
  • The stack radius has been lowered from 3 blocks to 2. The maximum radius is now 8 blocks instead of 12.
  • These mobs can no longer be affected: Wither Skeleton, Zombie Horse, Skeleton Horse, Vex.
  • A creature cap has been introduces. Each enchanted armour piece will add 3 to your limit.
  • A creeper exploding will no longer linger the slowness effect.
  • The snow trail from chilled creatures no longer spawns in the air sometimes.

Changed Busy Bee behaviour.

  • Bees can now be instantly dismissed by shift-right-clicking on them, if they're yours.
  • Bees float a bit higher above you.
  • Bees should stop suffocating themselves when you run into a narrow space.

Other

  • Cleaned up the notifications for special drops.
  • The Survival server will now attempt to restart nightly when no players are online.

May 4th, 2025

  • Fix the Invisible Item Frame as it could not be placed anymore due to internal changes.
  • Fences, walls, and bars can now be 'snipped' of all their directional extensions by shift-right-clicking them. For now, this cannot be done individually - it's all or nothing.
  • The Busy Bee enchantment now despawns bees after a minute.
  • Tried to improve the Item Magnet entity pulling behaviour.
  • A couple bug fixes related to offline players.

Aug 2nd, 2024

  • Torches now emit light around the player when held. This only applies to torches, for now.

Jul 28th, 2024

  • The Tree Feller enchantment will now yield drops from leaves.

Jul 22nd, 2024

Always a bug to fix.

  • Fixed a bug with the new homes system where shared homes would count against your total.
  • New item: Grenade - throwable TNT!

Jul 21st, 2024

It definitely took four years to develop all of this and I didn't just bugger off elsewhere. A bunch of work was left half-finished, and here's a quick rundown:

  • The servers have been updated from 1.18.x to 1.21.
  • The survival map has been nuked, and we'll be playing on a new map for 1.21!
  • The resource pack has been updated to be compatible with newer versions.
  • Tons of internal refactoring related to enchantments and items, so adding new ones is easier to manage(tm).
  • Custom enchantments can now be put onto books.
  • The Infuser tool has been removed. You can now simply use an anvil.
  • New enchantments: Chilling, Busy Bee, Tree Feller, Vein Miner
  • Revamped the homes system. You won't notice much, but it's leaner than it once was.
  • New item: Sun dial - sacrifice some items to skip ahead to the next day.
  • New weapon type: Scythes - hack & slash multiple enemies at once.
  • New item: Sheep Bomb and Chicken Bomb. No pages for these yet; you'll have to find them on your own!

Older updates

Angelic Steroids are now significantly cheaper. Using the same crafting recipe will yield 9 potions instead of just one.

Significant refinement of existing items. This applies to all custom items. They should handle significantly better when in your off-hand (aka they'll actually work). All items have been consolidated to re-use significantly more code. The hidden cooldown of many items has been reduced, so everything should feel more responsive. Stacking behaviors of certain custom items have changed.

In this storm of item revision, Elevators have seen some behind-the-scenes improvements, which greatly reduce their working time. You should ascend/descend them faster. They also use my fancy block tracking registry now. Existing elevators will be preserved. As a result of this improvement, you can now define 250 elevators from the previous 50.

The tape measure has been introduced. This is a handy way to measure your builds. It works for 2D and 3D measurements. See more information on the wiki.

Last but absolutely not least, I have finally added a resource pack. This took longer than it should have, by far. However, most future and existing custom items will have their own textures! So far, the list of textured items are: safari nets, angel wings, angelic wards, elevator assembly kits, and the tape measure. Other items maintain their original texture. Should you have any existing items, they'll be automatically converted to their new icon when you use them.

The hub has received a small update. You can now teleport to parkour courses. I've had the paintball guns kicking around for a while and decided to add them in. The reload sound has changed to be less obnoxious.

The wiki has been updated to reflect the new item models.

There's more on the way! I had to strip down this update a little so I could start rolling out items, but I have a couple of new custom items and some new enchantments coming soon! Stay tuned.

Beheading will now give you a message when you obtain the mob's head or a rare player head. These have different messages, so you'll know which one it was. There is no sound effect to this and only you can see the message. Also, the heads of mobs should now be named consistently.

Death mechanics have changed. In light of cheeky Piglins looting a body and running into lava, I have tweaked death mechanics. Upon death, a chest will form containing all of your items instead of them flying everywhere. This gives you more time to regain your items. This tries really hard to place a chest; if it can't, the items will still drop to the ground. There IS a time limit to the death chest, so please see the wiki page on death mechanics.

Angel Wings now work more gracefully with an Elytra. You can now activate an Elytra with your wings active without the wing glide effect kicking in. When you start gliding, your wings will be inactive until you stop; you're not able to re-activate your angel wings mid-flight! Additionally, deaths caused by falling to death with your angel wings will now display a unique death message.

/afk saw a technical improvement. It has been completely rewritten, though you won't really see this anywhere. It's less resource-intensive. All of the same features apply as before: mobs still can't target nor damage you while AFK (excluding piglins; though mobs CAN push you around, so be careful), and AFK players will factor into the amount of sleeping players.

Finally, as a last-minute change, Apple Harvester can now be applied to hoes. Unbreakable can be applied to Elytras.

As always, if you have feature requests, please run them by me! I'm always willing to add more content.

Mostly a small technical update today. If you don't care about anything, skip to the last bullet.

The proxy has been migrated to a new server. It is now located in Atlanta, Georgia. This is significantly closer to the backing servers (me) and should help with latency. I doubt it'll fix all the issues but it should be a little bit better depending on where you're located.

Angel wing particle code has been optimized. This doesn't mean anything to anyone except for me. The particle computation code has seen as much as a 60 percent improvement in speed. You won't notice much physically but the server is working way less to accomplish the same thing.

Expect downtime this weekend. It really won't be for long (couple hours max, hopefully) but I will be cleaning up my server rack and swapping out my battery backups. There will be another announcement prior to this expected outage.

Golden equipment will disappear soon. I'll be reserving all of this equipment for custom textures via resource pack soon, so this is your warning that gold tools will be removed from the game. This should take effect within the next week or so. If you have any (or have mobs that have any), they will be programmatically destroyed. Right now, this includes golden shovels, swords, axes, hoes, helmets, chestplates, leggings, and boots. For now, I've decided that gold pickaxes will remain. To be clear: all player and mob inventories will be checked and cleansed for the blacklisted golden tools. Furthermore, inventories such as chests and ender chests will also be subjected to the same thing.

May 9th, 2020

Very small tweaks today but I wanted to announce them.

Aquatic life is significantly more common. Apparently fish and squid were not spawning that often, so that has been fixed.

Zombie Pigmen will still target you while AFK. Excessive server-crippling lag would occur because the pigmen would rapidly try to re-target you. As a result, pigmen behavior is no longer affected while AFK.

Angel Wings have received a significant change! You may now craft angelic wards to gain points which will allow you to upgrade the wings! Three attributes may be upgraded with the wings: energy pool size, energy regeneration pace, and flight speed. There is no hard limit; these can be ascended as many times as you can handle. Additionally, points may be reclaimed from undesired upgrades but it will only be a portion of what was spent. To access the upgrade interface, sneak-right-click with the Angel Wings in-hand.

See more about Angelic Wards on the wiki.

As a side note, the particle draw delay has been increased to be a bit more lag-friendly with the increased size in the new wings. As a result of this, more particles have been introduced for the wings. You can unlock them in the upgrades interface.

In extension to the wing changes, you may also craft angelic steroids. Upon use, they will recharge a very small amount of flight energy. However, you can only stomach so many of them at one time as they taste horrid. See more about Angelic Steroids on the wiki.

Losing your Angel Wings will now cause them to dissipate.

Custom Enchantments can now be removed with a grindstone. The grindstone might show an item that isn't stripped properly but it will be. The result item display isn't something I can change, unfortunately. The enchantments will fade upon grinding the tool but it will forever be slightly different.

A new item has been introduced: the Bedrock Breaker! This does exactly what it sounds like. Not all bedrock can be broken, so see the wiki page for its limitations (or just try and break it). See more about the Bedrock Breaker: https://lpswiki.lildirt.com/index.php/Server:Survival:Bedrock_breaker

The Portable Workbench and Portable Ender Chest no longer open up when left-clicked with.

May 4th, 2020

Something of a technical update today. We've made the switch from Spigot to Paper. Spigot and Paper are both Minecraft server softwares, though Paper is a highly optimized version of Spigot. Basically, this means that we should see very significant performance boosts. Additionally, I've increased the render distance of creatures again.

I've cleaned out a couple of skeletons in my closet. Slaying the Ender Dragon will now display the message properly instead of vomiting data into the chat. Rare drop notifications will now work consistently for Elder Guardians and Wither Skeletons. The noise is less annoying now.

In other news, I've added two new crafting recipes: slab recombination and concrete making. You can see the wiki page at https://lpswiki.lildirt.com/index.php/Server:Survival:Other_recipes for the new recipes. These will also appear in the recipe hall. This applies for all slab types and all concrete colours. Hopefully it's less frustrating to work with now.

Angel Blocks and the Infuser have their own wiki page now. The wiki has also gained some information about Custom Enchantments (most notably, their chances). Finally, I have added a new enchantment: Beheading! This can be found by enchanting swords. Most creatures will now have a very small chance of dropping their head. If you kill a player, their head will always drop. For more information, see the Custom Enchantments wiki page for Beheading at https://lpswiki.lildirt.com/index.php/Server:Survival:Custom_Enchantments#Beheading.

Side note: I've put in my BungeeCord plugin, so things like nicknames will be broken until I can reassign them to you. This is now responsible for handling chat instead of my existing system, so cross-server chat won't be nearly as clunky as it once was.

For future reference, all update posts will also be supplied here. https://lpswiki.lildirt.com/index.php/Server:All:Update_log Historical entries will be forthcoming.

Oh man, another one of these. It's pretty insignificant this time, honestly.

I've fixed a couple of issues. The Magnum Torch will no longer cause egregious lag whenever mobs are trying to spawn. It's still not the fastest thing in the world .. but it should be orders of magnitude better than it was! Now if only we could do something about those hoppers ..

Angel wings saw a small improvement. They no longer hurt you if you land in water or on slime blocks. Honey blocks will reduce the damage to 25% of its original damage.

Finally, most of the reason that I'm making this post.. a very basic wiki has been deployed for the server. Hooray! Since the scope of custom items and features are growing, I decided that for everyone's sake (and my own, to be honest ..) that we need a repository of information. Hopefully this makes it easier for everyone to learn about the enchantments in-game, as well as the current future custom items.

You can visit the wiki here: https://lpswiki.lildirt.com/

The Infuser now accepts primary tools that have no custom enchantments. Previously, for some reason, it required you to have custom enchantments on both tools.

Furthermore, the Smelting effect can now be applied on tools with Fortune and Syphons. Other rules still apply.

Finally, I have adjusted several tunables within the server configuration. Basically, this means that overall server performance should be improved and you may see less network lag (but no guarantee there.. thanks Comcast). In addition, I have reduced the maximum mob cap within Survival, so night should be less terrifying. Technical details: I have adjusted Spigot's Entity Activation Range and Entity Tracking Range.

Apr 16th, 2020

Finally, the secondary enchantment system has been upgraded. Now it's far less frustrating for me to work with and I can easily add new enchantments. This has come with a few mechanical improvements: - Special tools can now be used in a regular anvil. There are still restrictions but you'll know when you're trying to do something wrong. - The Infuser has received a complete rework. It's far less frustrating to smith two special tools together. Features a new user interface which previews the item you're about to make instead of just guessing. - Unbreakable now uses the Minecraft modifier. No more weird durability on the client-side! Existing tools will be granted the modifier upon use.

As a result, I've decided to add a few more obtainable enchantments. :) - Apple Harvester - compatible with diamond/iron axes (requires Fortune, any level); harvest apples from tree leaves with a significantly higher drop rate! - Speedy Gonzales - compatible with diamond/iron leggings; 50% passive increase to your walkspeed. - Smelting - compatible with diamond/iron pickaxes and shovels (incompatible with Silk Touch and Fortune); instantly smelt the block that you break! This work on iron ore, gold ore, and both types of sand (assuming you're using the correct tool). - Lucky Escape - compatible with diamond/iron armour pieces; each armour piece with Lucky Escape grants a 7.5% chance (up to 30% for full armour) that a lethal hit will not kill you!

I've spent most of my time working on that above (look, it wasn't as straightforward as it sounds). However, I've added one more item: the Magnum Torch. When placed, the magnum torch will grant a 32 block radius of sanctuary from bedrock to build limit. Hostile monsters will not spawn within the region of the torch!

Mar 10th, 2020

  • More parkour changes! Successful runs and attempts are tracked and displayed to you now (if you had any beforehand, they won't show up sadly; your personal bests are unaffected). You'll get the elapsed time of failed attempts, though they won't count towards anything or be kept anywhere.

  • The hub server has seen a spawn change to the monolithic structure made by @10bad2. You're probably familiar where this is from, so I've opted for it as a spawn (since that was its original purpose.. some few years ago). Note that, since we're using spawn protections, piston doors and the like don't work here yet (because WorldGuard is annoying). I'll look to lift that restriction at some point.

First spawn image

  • Parkour challenges have been implemented! For now, only one course exists, but I anticipate to add more (and enslave people to build some for me). You can find the existing course at the roof of the hub spawn. There's a shortcut portal in the main spawn area. Every parkour challenge will reward you tickets, based on the difficulty of the course.

Second spawn image

  • Finally, a cross-server currency system has been implemented. This allows me to reward you for playing on the network in general, instead of just a specific server. You can expect to purchase rewards with this in the future, either in the Hub or within other servers (especially Survival). It's a little barebones at the moment but polish will come with time (and as I add more content around it). You can expect existing games, such as Hide'n'Seek to reward tickets in the future (it doesn't right now).

  • As a side note, a better looking Survival recipe room has been constructed, thanks to @10bad2. This contains all custom recipes available within Survival that are not within the base game.

  • Angel wings have been nerfed (because who didn't see that coming).
  • They're far more interactive now but also have significantly more limitations.
  • In the future, we may have energy-restoring consumables, max energy tiers, and flight speed upgrades.

Nov 29th, 2019

  • All servers have been updated to Spigot 1.14.4 and the network proxy will accept 1.14.4 clients.
  • the Survival world border has been raised to 20,000 blocks in each direction. I will be pregenerating terrain over the next few days. However, anything beyond 10,000 in any direction will be 1.14 terrain. Get hiking.
  • the Nether world border has been defined to 4,000 blocks in anticipation of the Nether Update. (subject to change)
  • After a long time of sitting in my local repo, the Infuser has been added to Survival. You may now fuse together arcane tools assuming they are compatible! You may find the recipe by jumping through the recipe portal at /spawn.
  • You can no longer share homes with yourself (LOL, that broke things).
  • Arcane tools can no longer be used in any crafting whatsoever.
  • The Elevator Assembly Kit no longer dyes sheep. D'oh.
  • A security vulnerability was resolved.
  • A handful of minor cleanups that no one but me cares about.
  • Angel wings are now craftable. Angel wings grant the ability of flight. You may right-click with the item in-hand to toggle flight. The recipe is also discoverable through the portal at spawn.

Aug 10th, 2019

  • Generation task for the Survival map began.
